"He does it with his hands, by experience, first in play and then through work."
- Marie Montessori
The K2 children at PCF Sparkletots Preschool @ Keat Hong Blk 295 were gaining experience through their play. Let's check it out!
Child is learning to recognise upper and lower case letters of the alphabet
by playing this matching game in our Language and Literacy corner.
At the dramatic corner, the children are pretending to be weather forecasters and cameramen in the ‘newsroom’. They learn to read simple sentences such as the weather forecasts for the day or the week and write on what interest them as the news for the day. Both weather forecasters and cameramen have to work cooperatively with one another in this pretend play.
During cookery lessons, children learn fine motor skills such as scooping from one container to another, as seen here. They get to explore what happens when the pan is placed on the stove.
They even count the number of scoops they made to create the rainbow pancake.
The children experimented with hen and quail eggs.
They wanted to investigate how much salt to add to the water to make the eggs float.
They learn to work together and decide, as a group, how many scoops of salt to add.
