The children learnt a mathematical concept of ‘adding one more’ through the use of a song with actions ‘Friends’; inspired by the story ‘Big Al and Shrimpy’ by Andrew Clements about friendship, with our theme being Working together with friends. As they sang the song, the children ‘swam’ to look for another friend as a partner and continued until they had a group of a number that were being stated.
